I was trolling through a Torrent site tonight and came across an interesting (and most likely legal) download: Pulp Art Collection - Vintage Pulp Magazine Covers.
Basically, this is a 27.3Mb file containing a wide selection of different pulp magazine covers, including ones from The Shadow. There aren't a lot of people sharing it at the moment, but I'll be leaving it seeding once I've got it down. As I mentioned above, as most of this material would have expired copyrights it is now public domain and thus legit to download. At least, that's how I understand it to work. _________________ "Nazis. I hate these guys."

What sort of quality are the scans contained, and roughly how many are there?
cheers!

The torrent (which is still downloading) is split into six sub-directories: Detective (82 images), Horror and Mystery (37 images), Men Stuff (33 images), Pulp Art (137 images), SciFi (65 images) and The Shadow (19 images).
Most of the images weigh in at about 490x560 pixels, and are pretty decent quality. I'm looking forward to getting the whole thing, and may upload many of the better images to my PhotoBucket account to ease downloading. _________________ "Nazis. I hate these guys."

Wow, every cover has a semi-naked woman. Is that really necessary? I guess times haven't changed so much. _________________ t h e s q u i d i s n o t d e a d |

~nods solemnly~ Yes, for some of us, yes it is.

In many respects, I'd agree they haven't. |

I seem to remember one female SF author describing Pulp as "White Male Engineer Saves the Universe." So no real suprise there, in fact the level of allowable nudeity on book covers and interior illostrations appears to have been higher in the 30s and 50s. _________________ Steven P. Ross
