I'm actually too tired to say much just yet, but I wanted to get a thread up so players and GMS can share their experiences.

If you were a player please give us the low down so we can make the 2011 Exile Experience even better.

I got a chance to play in the Friday 10AM - 2PM (sorta) session.

Due to scheduling issues the session was cut short (removing the bridge section of the scenario solved the problem). The modular set up of the scenario lended itself well to adjustment on the fly without being diruptive to the game itself.

Our GM (G. Thompson) was great. As soon as we began he "switched on" and brought the NPCs to life with both descriptions and voices. Style points were flowing quickly rewarding in character behaviors. I think I was the only one at the table who had not previously played a Ubiquity system game and he took the time to make sure that I understood the rules.

Other Players. I have to say that this was the most fun I've had playing with total strangers. I wasn't sure how things would go since two of the players were young (guessing at under 15 but not sure). I was happily surprised at their level of interaction and how they did their best to stay "in character".

I look forward to participating next year and I think I will be blocking more time out for RPGs in general and HEX specifically.

Jon

So a quick report on my 3 (4) games.

1) Lost on Gilligan's Island of the Damned. (unofficial Wednesday Game)
Losts of fun. Everyone embraced the Characters and it wennt quite
smoothly. There was a TPK 1/2 way through when Gilligan used his
Flare Gun inside a derelict ship full of black powder... but since this
was a time bending scenario I just had a time ripple come through
with the explosion and reset the game 10 minutes.

2) Treasure Trouble. This game was basically 2 families from Kanssas
who were travling together. One of the moms was amazing as the
shy girl mechanic. She one the prize (a prop diamon) fro the best
role playeer. 3 adults 3 kids. One of the kids was bit shy at first but
came out of her shell by the end of the game.

3) Tentacles of Terror- the roughest of the three... but still good. I made the monsters a little over powering... but the players (4 adults and 1 kid ) seemed to have a good time. They vanquished Cthulhu and save the world.

4) Return of the Saucermen. By far one of the best WKA games I've run at Gencon. This one was 3 Adults and three kids again. The kids were a little distracting and i think they overwhelemed the adults a bit... but everyone (especially me) had fun with this one. An example of the kids taking over... They have taken the scoutmasters station wagon (anybody know where i can find a 28mm 1954 Woody) and driving (one kid working pedels while another steers) to the alien enampment.... 2 of the adults want to stop short of the camp and sneeak up on it... but the kids outvote them and drive through the middle of the camp the turn around and go back through of the middle of the camp again to get a lazer cannon off a downed Alien walker they had encountered a few mile back. Then drive back through camp again.... lazer gun blasting everything in sight... for the finale they pool everything they've got for a 54 die lazer cannon role against the mopther ship... Kabobomm!!!!

Lots to report, but before I get around to that I want to give a thanks to EXILE GAME STUDIO, Jeff Combos, Melissa, Sechin, Katie, and the entire crew for making the GMs feel great!

EGS continues to impress me with the level of love they show their Game Masters.

This year my friend and partner in writing, Nich Gray, stepped up as the GM liaison, and he helped shape what is often the chaos of Gen Con into an amazing experience with little to no hassles for the GM. I was able to do a hell of a lot better job running my games knowing that Nich as standing by to pick up tickets, help players find tables, shuffle overly full tables, grab halls or water for the GMs, and keep everything in order.

Nich was a bad ass this year, and I thank him.

The rest of you guys didn't suck too bad with honorable mentions to Reaper Wolf, of these very forums, for running a ton of games and clearly showing what it takes to be a superior GM.

Gary Thompson also deserves some recognition for running a multitude of scenarios, helping out at the booth, and being an active member of the EGS crew.

Mike Demchak, Nestor Rodriguez, Andrew "the Wolverine", Robin Bree, Sechin Tower, and all the rest of the GM's (sorry to anyone not mentioned by name) kicked major butt, led EGS to a record number of HEX sessions, and created a buzz that was felt every day of the convention!

I love the company and the company the company keeps.

Thanks! Glad you liked it. That day (and honestly most of the con) is kind of a blur for me, but I do remember having two great groups...which character did you play?

The modular design is Scrumtumbler's fault, so you can thank him for that. It's one of the reasons I like that scenario so much. I can pull scenes out or swap other stuff in easily without damaging the plot at all. Not that I mind at all, but I was honestly surprised I had a few experienced Hexers playing in each session, as I make sure to mark it as a beginner's scenario.

I'll post write-ups of all my games down in Dangerous Journeys soon (I keep them all in that forum, so I know where to look)...I don't do To the Earth's Core write-ups anymore, but I do note stuff I learned from individual sessions, or unexpected places the players took me, and that happened with both runs.

Again, thanks, and welcome to the forums and the world of Hex!

My hat's off to all the EGS GM's, especially those that I got a chance to sit in and play a game with.

DeBarba - excellent job getting into his NPC characters and making them come to life in the Wilderness Kids - Prometheus Falls.

GM's name I can't remember for Maximum Damage?, I got moved into this game at the last moment and had a blast taking over the Scientific compound with our poisoned food concotion.

Nestor - Always a great time when Nestor is in control and I liked the change of pace with his Victorian era adventure. "I see London, I see France..." Keep it up Nestor and I'm sure to be in at least one of your games again next year!

Shawn Hilton? - Five (Six) Guns of Death - this was definately a blast and Shawn I must admit did the best job of GM'ing I've seen (I hear Sechin is good and hope to play in one of his games next year!). Shawn ran this adventure without any notes, cards or a GM screen...either he's really good or he's just that d@mn good! The whole group was laughing and having a good time from start to finish. I played "The Pistol" and robbed a whole town at gun point and then my buddy the Arizona Ranger ended up in a three-some with zombies on the train.

Again, congrats to all you guys for running and creating some great games. I'll be sure to sign up for some more HEX games next year!

Thanks, I had a blast running Six Guns over the weekend.

When John "The Pistol" O'Brien walks into a room people just start taking their clothes off. It's weird.

Special thanks indeed to my friend Rich DeBarba and to Zelgar for stepping in at the last minute to run games! Especially since I kinda-sorta-may have forgotten to stat up the NPCs in the WK adventure I wrote.

Rich doesn't have an account here, but there will definitely be some rep going Zelgar's way!

Porn Star the RPG! I'd happily write for that one.

I played in three HEX games at Gen Con, one by Zelgar and two by Reaper Wolf. All were very enjoyable.

I really liked how you basically had a "HEX Room" at the Hyatt.

Hopefully I can join you all next year as a GM.

Oh yes, I did like how EGS had their own room, it was easy to go here and try and find a pickup game if needed.

Thanks again!

That would be awesome. We'll send out a forum post when we start scheduling. Thanks!
