AAARRRGGHH!!
*deep breath*
Okay. is anyone else having trouble printing the PDF? i usually have no problems with other PDF's.
I want to print a page range (I'm printing from work so I have to sneak it a bit at a time.) I did a test of printing pages 12-14- it took forever. it started "flattening" and then went to the printing cycle. luckily my boss wasnt around. -
boss-"Where are the stats for November?"
receptionist-"uh the printers frozen"
boss-"Why is it frozen?"
receptionist-"Jeff locked it up printing his dungeons and dragons game..."
Jeff- "It's not Dungeons and Dragons. It's Hollow Eart..."
Boss-"I dont care what it is just fix it! and then come see me jeff, we need to talk." _________________ "You don't get to call yourself an "Old school gamer" unless you've played D&D using paper chits and Dixie cups."

Hmm, I was printing pages from the .pdf last night at work myself with no problems. What version of Adobe do you have on your PCs at work? Maybe try upgrading to ver 6 and see if that helps at all. _________________ "Nazis. I hate these guys."

I just did a test print myself. I used the same PDF file that I uploaded to DriveThru and RPGNow and I printed pages 12-14. It "flattened" just like you said, but then my printer (an HP officejet) started spitting out pages. I have it set on "Normal" quality, so it's not draft or anything like that. The whole thing took maybe a couple of minutes.
Can anyone else verify that there is or isn't a problem printing the PDF? Since I'm the guy that published it, it's cosmically required to work for me.

we have acrobat 6.0 standard and 7.0 reader.
i tried "saving as" and renaming and that freezes up my system so i have to cntrl alt delete to get out of acrobat.
I tested it with other PDF's. no problems just with my HEX. _________________ "You don't get to call yourself an "Old school gamer" unless you've played D&D using paper chits and Dixie cups."

I *do* know you can't print a range of pages to another PDF file, but that's a standard DRM thing.
Nope, the only issue I've had so far is that there do not appear to be any active bookmarks for the Table of Contents or linked coming up, although there *seem* to be links to bookmarks in the file.
Does that make sense? If there are Bookmarks to match page listings on the Table of Contents, they are not appearing for me. If they're not there, then... well, they probably should be.
But, since the PDF was free and a gift to boot, I didn't want to complain.

Hmm, I'm not sure about this. Having never done an e-book before, it's entirely possible the graphics folks missed that. I'm not sure I can fix it at this point but I'll see what I can do.

Hello,
I am not sure this problem has been fixed, but I bought the game in pdf yesterday and I cannot print it. Well, as the first person said, we may be able to print but it takes forever for one page. And I print from work with Acrobat 7 and a really good printer (Xerox).
There was the same problem when they released Shadowrun 4 in pdf. It tool several months for Fanpro to fix the problem.
It doesn't make me really happy since I cannot use that book as long as I can't print it.

Hi Oufle,
I haven't had anyone else report this problem since this topic was first posted, but that may just mean no one else is saying anything. Can you give us some specs on your printer type? Perhaps someone else has had a similar problem and is willing to share some thoughts on what the problem might be.

yup, and no one ever got back to me on my issue from december. it looks like the gaming gods are not smiling on my efforts to play Hex.
Basic action games is a company on RPGNOW that offers printer friendly versions of their pdfs. no pictures, no background, just the game. I know folk sing the praises of HEX's artwork but if it meanss I can actually print and use the game I can live without the art for awhile.
have you considered a printer freindly version Jeff?? _________________ "You don't get to call yourself an "Old school gamer" unless you've played D&D using paper chits and Dixie cups."

My apologies, DM, I wasn't aware that you were still having trouble printing the PDF. Thanks for speaking up. Banished Babe and I will take another look at it tonight and see if we can't shrink it and/or make a more printer-friendly copy.

I uploaded a new (smaller) version of the PDF to DriveThruRPG and RPGNow. You should be able to download it from there if you still have the e-mail confirmation. If you do not (or ordered it directly from the Exile website), please send me a message and I'll get you set up with a copy.

Hello,
thank you for your action. However, this is still the same for me.
I noticed that there is something odd when I try to print. Indeed, I manage to print the first 3 pages with no problem (cover + map)(Page 4 is blank).
Then, when I try to print page 5 to 9, I can't select them in the printing settings. I don't know how to explain, but it seems that there may be a problem with the page number. Maybe you should put the all book from 1 to 264, instead of 1 to 3 for cover + map, then 1 to 257 for the content, and 1 to 3 for the back cover.
I am not sure this is clear .

Hmm, if it's a page problem, does it happen when you print other multi-page PDF's? Perhaps try printing the 15-page Target: Atlantis PDF the same way and see how you go. _________________ "Nazis. I hate these guys."
