|
|
I want to thank each and every single GM that ran HOLLOW EARTH EXPEDITION, DESOLATION, and ALL FOR ONE at GEN CON 2011. On behalf of the GM liaisons (Rev & Aynge ), and Exile Game Studios. We thank every single GM, whether you ran one hour or 100 hours, for their hard work, their dedication, and their patience.
We sincerely believe that we have the BEST games at the biggest gaming convention in the world, we KNOW we have the BEST GMs in the world, and because of the combination of the two we end up with the BEST fans in the world!
Each and everyone of you deserves to be mentioned by name and so much more.
Reaperwolf is a GM that is an example to other GMS through both his dedicated game hours, and his skills.
Zelgar and Rbree handled child and adult alike in multiple games of Wilderness Kids and their own adventures. A special thank you to Rbree who helped me every step of the way figuring out the incredibly confusing GEN CON registration system. I hope next year he'll share the duties with me.
Ali Shadow was our newest GM, and she did extremely well, and will only improve with the oncoming years.
Gary Thompson is a trooper that runs a multitude of games, hours of material, and a fan favorite of gamers. He turns casual players into life long fans, and he works his ass off all year long behind the scenes helping to bring new EGS material to you.
Scott Jones introduced several new fans to the world of Ubiquity by running a Dr. Who game which was met with delight by a lot of fans. Scott Jones is a good friend, a man I respect outside of HEX, and someone that I appreciate a great deal. Thank you Scott.
Scott's buddy, Ron?, stepped up and ran a few sessions that gathered up a LOT of praise. I hope that Ron can find the time to run more games next year. The reaction from his players was incredibly positive, and he's exactly the kind of GM that we hope continues to run the game.
Sean Gore stepped up to run his Ennie Nominated adventure, the first in the HEX line (now available in PDF and a limited edition hard copy?), and as usual his game was a highlight of the convention. A classy guy who makes me want to be a better GM.
The guys that ran the larp, I'm sorry I didn't get your names, but the entire EGS crew would love a session for next year that was held after 6PM so we can play...we're not above bribery.
Nestor, the EGS GM of the year, was a great sport, and he brought together another superb game that wowed his players. Nestor is a memorable man, and a GM that you'd be lucky to have run your game. I was lucky enough to have him for a 2nd year as a player, and he continuously stole the show.
Sechin Tower helps actually create the games now, and he runs the games, and he runs the booth, and he....he's a work horse and one of the best GMs Gen Con has ever seen. He's also a sexy beast.
Jeff Combos ran a game, but his lack luster style, horrible rules knowledge, and crappy attitude make him by far the worst GM we have regularly running games. He also owns the company.
I know I'm missing people, and I apologize to anyone not mentioned. It is not out of any disrespect, but merely a haze of nearly one week of sleep deprivation, crazy games, and hanging out with the baddest group of mother fu....SHUT YOUR MOUTH.... I'm just talking about HEX GMs.
We most sincerely thank each and everyone of you, and hope that next year you'll return to outdo this year. _________________ DANGER MAGNET! at WWW.DANGERMAGNET.COM is your source for a FREE Hollow Earth Expedition Electronic Magazine! |

Let's not forget Misters Nich Gray and Shawn Hilton, who are the backbone of the GM operation, more-or-less giving up their con to make sure things run smoothly. They do an incredible job--and that's on top of being two of the most popular and prolific GMs we've got.
And while we're at it, we should probably acknowledge the awesome booth babery, headed up by Katie, and featuring Lauren, Simon, Christine, Andrew, et al. _________________ Newest Hollow Earth Expedition product: Legacy of the Terra Arcanum. | Thank you Gary we didn't give up our con we spent it with some of the best people at the convention and without all of our GMs and their games there would be no need for us. |

I echo Arizona Smith's accolades to Nich and Shawn, who had the balls to manage this group of misfits and unleash us on an unsuspecting public.
When we storm the gates of Atlantis, I'll be honored to have your backs, sirs. _________________ "I've got a degree in kicking arse and I'd have a doctorate in not giving a damn if I'd bothered to attend the ceremony." |

I thank you all for having this n00b amongst your GMing squad and giving me a chance.... and considering all the disasters I have had since I volunteered myself, the fact that you all liked my work and are giving me more chances to improve myself, I am greatful.

Welcome aboard! Don't be too hard on yourself. I heard very favorable feedback about your incursion into GM territory. The key is to have fun and let the players know it.
I do have to confess that when Shawn pointed you out, my reaction was, "We got a GM chick? Woot!" _________________ "I've got a degree in kicking arse and I'd have a doctorate in not giving a damn if I'd bothered to attend the ceremony." |

Because female GMs are very very rare.
Twenty years ago, a female GM at Gen Con would have been unheard of.
You did a dandy job kiddo, your players looked engaged and they were having fun and so were you. You're in good company.
Hopefully we'll see ya next year!!

Hear hear! Thank you all who ran games this year. It's a lot of work to prepare scenarios, create characters, and then shout to be heard for four hours, but I'm so delighted to see so many great people put in that effort to make it a great con. You're awesome!
And extra special thanks to Shawn and Nick, who ran that place like a well oiled machine. _________________ --Sechin Tower, EGS Lead Developer--

I feel like a slacker for only running one game compared to most here, I hope to change this next year.
It was great to see everyone and wish we could gather more often. We need to get Prof. Scrumtumbler working on that teleporter!
Want to send thanks to my travel buddy Nestor, who made the 10 hour car ride seem to fly by with interesting and enlightening conversation. Big high five, my friend!
And last but not least, have to agree with Arizona Smith about John Aynge and Rev organizing and managing the games, great job guys; you rock the awesome! _________________ "...there's some Nazi chins waiting for a good, ole' American bruising!" Rex Steele, Nazi Smasher

As always, I think the HEX GMs are some of the best I have ever had the pleasure to play with. A special shoutout to Prof_Scrumtumbler, ReaperWolf, Zelgar, John Aynge and Rev, who's games I had the pleasure of playing this year. I had a blast and brought a few players from my home game to experience you firsthand.
Ali Shadow it was nice to meet you. I am glad that you had a good experience. I expect I will get an opportunity to play in your game in the future.
I am sorry to have missed Nestor's game but there are only so many hours at the con. I have played in your games before and side-by-side with you as a player. Simply put, you rock.
After seeing you all in action and getting some real time to talk with most of you, I expect I will throw my hat in the ring to run something next year (assuming my schedule allows me to attend). From my perspective these are some big shoes to fill and I hope to do you proud. I am already starting to pull some ideas together. A year seems like a long time but it will be here before we know it. |

And I am certainly not above being bribed!
We had a great time running the LARP, and we had several players ask hopefully if there would be another next year so . . . we shall see! _________________ Jamie Hogan
