Hi folks,
I don't know how many Colorado people we have on here, and I'm a little last-minute, but this Saturday June 2nd at Total Escape Games in Broomfield (between Boulder & Denver) RolePlayDNA (podcast & blog site) is hosting a charity game day.
I'll be running HEX - Nightmare at the Museum (the FRPGD adventure from 2010) at 9am.
There are plenty of other games on offer, including Leagues of Adventure (Ubiquity), lots of Savage Worlds, Call of Cthulhu, and DCC with Harley Stroh. It's $3/game, with all proceeds going to the Birds of Prey Foundation.
Details are here:

Thanks!

This game almost didn't go off, but I picked up a few HEX newbies at the last minute at the event and ended up with four players.
I ran Nightmare at the Museum, the FRPGD adventure from 2010, straight up as written. Things got off to a suitably action-packed start when the Paranormal Investigator decided to jump off the balcony onto the T-rex skeleton in an attempt to smash it upon two nazis below. I had him roll Acrobatics for aim and Athletics for force, and he rolled well enough that he partially crushed a nazi (the other made his Athletics roll and dove out of the way). My only mistake was having Col. Sieben run up the aisle towards Dr. Horvath instead of melting into the panicked crowd - she had just gained the stage when the big game hunter blew a saucer-sized hole in her leg with a called shot from his Webley. The bad guys did still manage to pick up the crystal and bail with the wounded Colonel in tow.
After tracking the nazis to Central Park, a pretty nasty gunfight broke out, with three PCs seriously wounded by MP-35 fire (even at long range from the zeppelin). In retrospect, 8 nazis + Sieben vs. 4 PCs was a little much. I'll remove one next time I run this. The session ended in suitably pulpy fashion, with the plucky reporter slide-tackling the crystal "football" out of the zeppelin cabin after blinding the attending nazis with her camera flash. The scientists body conveniently broke the crystal's fall and everyone got back to the museum in time to trigger EGOR again and get zapped into the Hollow Earth.
My HEX newbies all had a good time and will likely be back for more (I'm running a game at the same location on FRPGD and two session at TactiCon in Denver in September). They all expressed interest in playing again so I consider the session a success.
BTW, the charity game day raised about $300 for Birds of Prey, plus a match from the hosting FLGS for a total of $600. Not bad for a bunch of nerds...
Until next time,

chaos. death. destruction of public property. sounds like a successful game session! always fun introducing people to the chaos found within the Hollow Earth. hopefully those new players will spread the word.
thanks for the update _________________ ...the rich |

Hi wapunac,
If you're looking for games in or around Broomfield, Total Escape hosts charity game days a few times a year (at which I usually run HEX and/or another Ubiquity game). There's one coming up in May, which will have a HEX game - details are here: http://warhorn.net/may-thanksgaming-2013/ (the Thanksgaming name is a reference to the event from November which we did as a Thanksgiving charity day). Total Escape will also do a whole day of stuff for Free RPG Day in June (at which I'll also be running...something, maybe Leagues of Adventure). See their event calendar for upcoming stuff, though FRPGD isn't set up on the site yet. http://www.totalescapegames.com/events/
