Interesting article. Here's hoping that monograph ends up online somewhere.
I also like how they link to an article on How to Destroy the Earth at the bottom of the page as well _________________ "Nazis. I hate these guys."

John, Wolverine, destroying the Earth would be bad. Think of all the plans for conquest that you'd upset... The hours spent digging up the Atlantian artifacts! The years spent preparing the unholy army... Oops! I may have said too much... _________________ Steven P. Ross

Small world. I actually received my MA from Wash U in the same Department as Wysession, though I only met him once. He came into the Department as I was leaving.
Goes to prove the real world provides many hooks for adventuring (i.e., reality stranger than fiction). For example, suppose the Nautilus was actually a boring leviathan designed to be used in an underground ocean, or that the oceans actually connect the surface world to the HE (e.g., same ocean, two sides).
You could also steal this premise and have the Nazi's pumping water under Washington DC or NYC to destabilize their foundations and create a massive earthquake that would collapse the city. It's not too far from the truth - deep underground injection for the disposal of chemical weapon stockpiles at the Rocky Mountain arsenal "lubricated" existing fractures that set off swarms of small earthquakes. Don't even get me started on the seismicity possibilities.
All-in-all, I feel much better knowing now that my time in academia was well spent in preparation for gaming. |
