Hi everyone,
We're still looking for people to help us run games at Gen Con Indy (see: http://www.exilegames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=4625#4625)
Time's running out, so it's time to up the ante. Anyone that signs up to run games in the next three days will get credited twice the hours they put in. That's right, volunteering to run 8 hours of games will get you the 16 hour reward! We'll double the rewards (or work a special deal) with anyone that ends up with more than 16 credited hours.
This deal goes for anyone that has already signed up, so don't worry about that. If you're interested, please send e-mail to: gencon@exilegames.com

Waaah! I've been struggling with the fact that financial matters may keep me away from GenCon this year, and you dangle this carrot! Alas, alack!
But seriously, right now it's all up in the air, so I dare not make any commitments. But be sure that if and when I figure out that I'm going, you'll be among the first to know.
Hmmm, I wonder how much I can get for a kidney... _________________ "I've got a degree in kicking arse and I'd have a doctorate in not giving a damn if I'd bothered to attend the ceremony." |

You could get enough to go to Gen Con in style if you sell a kidney! But do it soon so you're all recovered in time.
Oh, and Nestor, I just sent you an e-mail and hadn't read this yet, so just ignore me. |

I've already contacted the people in charge, but I'll be there running at LEAST one scenario a day, and I'm hoping to get THE OLYMPIC INCIDENT (Working title) approved by Banished Babe. I'll be posting up bits and pieces about it in the near future as I ask people for help, tips, advice, and etc.
I can't say it enought. RUNNING games at Gen Con is 10 times better than playing games at Gen Con. The buzz I get from running a game for a group of strangers that really dig what I'm doing is worth PAYING Exile games for! However, they are going to BRIBE ME to run my new FAVORITE GAME?! Hells YEAH I'm in for that!
Oh, and if you play in one of my demos you get a chance to win one of the PROPS from the game. My games are PROP heavy with lots of "live actiony" moments. In fact the OLYMPIC INCIDENT is a scenario that was originally planned as a CTHULHU MASTERS Tournament scenario and was entirely live action. It was play tested a handful of times, and once for two gents involved in the CMT, but was never run at Gen Con. Now I'll finally get a chance to rework it and make it come alive for a whole new game system.
If I've figured this out right if you run 4 four hour games (one game a day) Exile Games PAYS for your badge? Am I reading that right? That's a $65.00 value, and then their going to give you MORE free stuff? Jeff's lost his bloody mind! Take advantage now before he sees the light of reason.
Now, I'm under the impression that Banished Babe has some more annoucements coming in the near future regarding GEN CON, and I'm looking foward to hearing all of those, but if there is time and there are bodies I would LOVE to run my Gen Con demo for other volunteer GMS and HEX board members WEDNESDAY NIGHT before Gen Con kicks off. Call it a welcome to INDIANA and get your GAME ON. I have a hotel room down there, and I'll see what I can line up for a place to play.
I CAN'T WAIT for this!
Oh, if we end up with a scenario or two for GEN CON and it needs props (paper props or a simple token or two) I'd happily try to produce enough to cover all the GMS that were running that game. No gurantees at this point, but I could probably handle some 20 dino teeth, small Atlantean tablets, or something similar.
Maybe we could see a special Gen Con adventure guide (some quicky KINKO's or STAPLES job) that has all the Gen Con Demos that the board members run? Now that might make a fun contest, and give Exile another (albeit small) item to have at the con.
I LOVE THIS CONVENTION! I'm pumped already.
Oh, hey, is there any chance of a HOLLOW EARTH PAINTING COMPETITION/MODEL COMPETITION? I know Gen Con every year has a major painting competition. I don't know that EXILE could promote or sponsor a contest where the subject was PULPY GOODNESS, but you don't know until you ask
Now, where do I get a cheap Pith Helmet? All Expedition Guides should have a pith helmet on their table! _________________ DANGER MAGNET! at WWW.DANGERMAGNET.COM is your source for a FREE Hollow Earth Expedition Electronic Magazine! |

I would never ignore a lady, BB.
It is, alas, a sad state of affairs for me. I have found GenCon to be a great way to re-energize my gaming batteries, not to mention finding new games to play!
I can only offer penance by redoubling my efforts to run demos in the local area. Once I've gotten the Newark demo done, I'll try to run it again at a FLGS. I also just got the flyer for a local SF Con, Shore Leave, and am looking at my schedule to see if I can actually make it and run there too.
Stay frosty! _________________ "I've got a degree in kicking arse and I'd have a doctorate in not giving a damn if I'd bothered to attend the ceremony." |

Or a nice brown fedora. Actually, I find a fez to be quite comfortable and comfy.
Shawn, you go, man. Have fun and hoist a pint or two in my name. I'll be there in spirit if not in body. _________________ "I've got a degree in kicking arse and I'd have a doctorate in not giving a damn if I'd bothered to attend the ceremony." |

Pours a pint on the floor at the Ram.

I'm quickly ejected from the Gen Con watering hole. Not for dirtying up the floor, but for wasting alcohol!
Nestor just became an NPC in the "Olympic Incident"

Speaking of the Ram, we're lucky enough to have a friend in the Kentucky Fried Gamers, and we'll be having a meet-and-greet for volunteers and forum members during their annual revelries on Wednesday night! John - I think there's an excellent chance that you can set up a table and run your game there (you'll have to come up with a way to prevent the throngs from fighting over who's going to play!)
This will be a private event and the doors of the Ram will be closed to the general public. I just got the confirmation that they're opening their doors to us, so I can't give any details as of yet.
Stay tuned for more! |

Speaking of running games there, maybe someone would be so good as to run the people demoing at the con through the demo mission. That would be a fun way to get us familier with the scenario. _________________ "Nazis. I hate these guys."

Hullo, Jeff,
*sigh* Makes me wish I could go to Gen Con Indy, but to be honest, I've got other concerns in my life at the moment, and so the Gen Con trip is out of the question. That said, it would be soooo cool to meet you folks, but such is not to be. Sad is me. _________________ "The pterodactyl swooped down and...well, let's just say that Loren

This will actually be my last trip to GenCon Indy for a couple of years or so. Next year I've decided to save a little cash and check out the first GenCon Oz instead and the year after that things might be a little... interesting.
Still, this year will be a whole lotta fun! _________________ "Nazis. I hate these guys."

Well, at least it's not a case of the flesh is willing and the spirit is weak, and all that. Or is it the reverse? _________________ "The pterodactyl swooped down and...well, let's just say that Loren

So, who else has signed up for this awesome experience? I know I'm in and I hope to be bringing a few surprises. Who is going to join me? _________________ DANGER MAGNET! at WWW.DANGERMAGNET.COM is your source for a FREE Hollow Earth Expedition Electronic Magazine! |
