A NEW THOUGHT FOR A NEW DAY
CONTEST FOR A NEW DAY!
CREATE A STORY SEED FOR HOLLOW EARTH EXPEDITION.
The HOLLOW EARTH is filled with adventure, intrigue, and danger. The Thule Society plots, The Terra Arcanum wages a secret war, mad scientists create bizarre mechanical contraptions, and ALL of their daughters and handsome lab assistants are in PERIL! Did we mention DINOSAURS? They're in there too.
This is your chance to show the world your HOLLOW EARTH chops, your skills, YOUR ADVENTURE! It’s ALL about YOU! Create a story seed that will make jaws hit the floor, blow people away, and make them scrape and bow before you as you enter the room. Well, maybe you’ll get a golf clap instead.
HOW MUCH TIME DO I HAVE?
The deadline entry is SEPTEMBER 10th at MIDNIGHT, PDT. One week later the JUDGES will POST THE WINNER.
HOW MANY ENTRIES CAN I MAKE?
Just one per person, please!
HOW LONG CAN MY STORY BE?
Entries should not exceed 1000 words.
WHY SHOULD I DO THIS?
Because you get COOL STUFF if you win, that’s why.
The First Place winner will receive the AMULET & TABLET featured in the THOUGHT OF THE DAY: PROP MAKING. This is a fully painted and ready to use PROP.
The Second Place Winner will receive a Hollow Earth Expedition t-shirt.
The Third Place Winner will receive an 11"x17" map detailing the portals into the Hollow Earth.
These will ship WORLD WIDE. You live IN the HOLLOW EARTH? They'll get there somehow! NO ONE IS EXCLUDED.
ACTUALLY, THAT IS A LIE:
Banished Babe, Terra Arcanum, Jcombos, and Prof. Scrumtumbler are all EXCLUDED.
JUDGES:
BANISHED BABE, TERRA ARCANUM, JCOMBOS, and PROF. SCRUMTUMBLER will be judging. Their word is law.
TIPS:
Create an AMAZING story seed.
Sidebar from Banished Babe, the editing fiend: Bonus points will be awarded to entrants who use correct spelling, punctuation, and capitalization.
FORMAT:
Entries will be accepted in Word format only.
THE FINE PRINT:
ALL submissions become the property of EXILE GAMES. If you submit it, THEY OWN IT. An address should be sent with the submission so winners can receive their prize. All entries can be PM’D to Banished_Babe or e-mailed to contest@exilegames.com.
This will also allow EXILE GAMES to create a mailing address for SNAIL MAIL* (Who knows? Maybe we’ll get a Christmas Card from HOLLOW EARTH). The Judges will post all the entries at the same time so no one can look at someone else's adventure and TWEAK their own. One week after posting, they will PICK A WINNER. Shortly thereafter, the WINNERS will receive their prizes!

Ok, a couple of questions.
Does the story seed still have to include the amulet in some way?
Can entries be submitted in .rtf format instead of .doc? (Yeah, I know they're mostly the same thing, it's more that not everyone out there will have access to Word)

#1. Do you have to use the AMULET/TABLET in your story seed?
NO. This is all about YOU. NO LIMITS. If you want to use it then go ahead, but it's not necessary.
#2. I'm not sure. I bet Banished Babe will answer that one as soon as possible.

Sweet, thanks for the answers. I think my concept was going to use the amulet anyway, but it's all good.

Does anyone have any questions regarding this, and does anyone have any advice to help your fellow creators?

Okay, so we're limited to 1000 words, that doesn't seem like an aweful lot to me. I'm guessing the finished product will end up looking like a slimmed down version of the mission presented in the rulebook, is that the intent?
Also, are NPCs written up for submissions included as part of the total word count?

Keep in mind this is not a scenario contest. It's a story seed contest. So it would read more like the how to write a short adventure in the rule book as opposed to the proper scenario at the back of the book.
I'm not sure about the NPC's VS word count. Hopefully one of the judges can chime in on that topic.

As this is a story seed contest, you don't need to include any stats for your NPCs. As Sticky John has noted, it's not a full adventure. |

I'm glad to know that someone has entered. I'm not sure how many entries there have been already, but I wish you the best of luck.
Just to make sure everyone is clear on this.
This is NOT an adventure contest. It's a SCENARIO SEED idea. The idea is that you send in an open ended theme, situation, and possibly several possibilities that could arise from your theme or situation.
GET THOSE ENTRIES IN! You only have two days left to get your entries in.
